Indoor/Outdoor Games

We are trying something new in our neighborhood this summer and it has been successful so far. The moms are "hosting" some activities or classes at our homes through out the summer for the kids in the neighborhood who are elementary school age.  My kids have LOVED it, look forward to the activities, and it gives them something different to do through out the summer without having to sign up for expensive summer camps.

We hosted the first classes at our house. I chose to teach some summer indoor and outdoor games. I have such fun childhood memories of neighborhood and playground games so it was like a blast from the past for me.

One day we played all sorts of sidewalk chalk games, four square, frisbee tag and chinese jumprope.

There are about a million different relays and tag games out there to play.
On the warmest day of the week (a steamy 85 degrees) we played a whole bunch of water relays and games.

This cute relay is called "Tosies". The goal is to be the first team to the finish line by rolling while keeping your toes together at the same time. It was hilarious to watch!

Hot Air Soccer was another big hit. Team tried to blow their paper "ball" into the other team's goal with straws.

Of course Otter Pops were involved as well. It really was a lot of fun for me and the kids. Thanks to the other moms in the neighborhood, the kids have art classes, craft making, pie eating, baking and cake decorating, rockets, and maybe even some science experiments to look forward to!
