Summer is Here!

Summer was really slow coming this year, but it finally arrived! I was thrilled to have homegrown strawberries to eat this year. My crop was a good size and very sweet.

In May we had a robin that kept attacking our windows and doors on the deck on the south side of our house. It made such a mess of the windows and ground, and I was sure he was going to hurt himself. After a little google search I learned that male robins get very territorial during nesting and see their reflection in glass as a threat from "another aggressive male" so they will attack it! Crazy bird! A few weeks later we found this under joists of the the deck...

Then a few weeks later, this...

It was fun to watch them grow and the parents feed them. Byran would hold his iphone up to the nest and take movies and pictures of the birds as they grew up. They all "flew the nest" while we were gone so we missed the big event.

The town next to us put in a park with a simple splash pad last year. Our early summer was barely warm enough to be out in short-sleeves, but what kid can turn down the opportunity to get wet?

 

Oh, and Karissa's bandaide is covering this injury...

It is from a bungee-cord accident. The accident being that she and Kyler were pulling opposite ends of  the bungee-cord and it slipped out of Kyler's hand and, there you go! Byran said it bled a ton.  The insta-care center made several attempts to super glue it. As a result, Riss had to miss out on swim lessons. Poor girl! She was very brave with the whole incident actually, and Byran and I were impressed.

Kayden spent the first week of June at Scout Camp, and Byran at Girls' Camp. It was my first time taking care of the Magoos all by myself again for the whole week. It was a good but exhausting week and we were all glad to have Byran home again.

While Kayden was still gone, we took the Magoobies to our city's carnival. Tons of people, holy cow! Byran and I spent the evening standing in different lines so the kids could go on a few rides. After standing in the ferris wheel line for close to an hour, Byran, Kyler and Riss were the last three people they let on before shutting down the ride for the night.

 The next morning, my friend Erin texted me to look out our back window to see this!

 Four or five hot air balloons had landed in our neighborhood that morning!

I absolutely love summer! The evenings have been so nice, and the views just gorgeous from our home!
