Darn Meds

As of this evening, Grandma has made some surprising progress today. She ate most of a cup of tapioca pudding, and was asking for more water. She sat herself up several times and would have short conversations with us. She wanted to know where she was and why she was there. We were able to wake her from a heavy sleep when needed. Her eyes have remained closed through all of this and her vitals have been quite stable today.

The doctor suggested this afternoon that the coma could have been induced by all of the meds she has been on and has put a stop to everything except tordal, the anti-inflametory she had been on. Mom had actually asked them to stop giving the other meds Saturday because they were making her so anxious and hyper and not doing their job. Darn meds! The doctor was quite vague and didn't have much to offer.

To be clear, things could still go either way. Grandma is still quite fragile. Although no longer comatose, she still has a ways to go before she would be able to be released to a rehab or nursing center.

But in the meantime, we were all very pleasantly surprised and so tickled to have her back today!

I am shocked. I hope that she can get better, and that she will be able to live out the rest of her life in comfort.
