Moved

Big moving day today as Sheia was transferred to an inpatient rehab center that is connected to the hospital but its own unit. This means that the doctors felt her medical condition improved enough to start focusing on physical and occupational therapy. Although this was a move forward, it turned into a pretty long and difficult day as changes require her to re-establish trust and understanding of how she will be cared for.

She is in room number 2671. It is a much bigger room and Byran is staying the first night as she will have a busy schedule. It will begin at 7am with an occupational therapist working with Sheia on getting dressed for the day (in nice and comfortable green scubs of course). Then breakfast at 8 followed by physical therapy at 8:45 and more occupational therapy at 9:30. She will then have a break until lunch at noon and then more physical therapy at 1 and occupational therapy at 1:45. Then she is done for the day as far as therapy and can relax till dinner and then getting ready for bed. The schedule is fairly structured and will provide some needed stability. It is a nice facility with a gym area and dinning area. Nursing staff and therapists have been very gentle and accommodating. The initial plan is to be here for 10-14 days but that can change as her progress is carefully monitored.

Despite it being a pretty difficult day, it has ended with the peace and assurance that tomorrow is a new day and an opportunity for new progress as we prepare to be home again as a family. A timely visit from our stake president helped turn a needed corner as the day came to a close.

Thank you for your continued prayers and notes of encouragement. They truly make a difference. She feels bad she hasn't been able to respond to your emails and notes but please keep them coming. She looks forward to now having more visitors. Just check with Byran first before coming as she wants to be sure you visit during an "up" time and when she is rested from therapy and fully clothe :)

Goodnight to you all. Here's to sweet dreams and pain killers ;)

Thanks for your e-mail and the update of your progress. When can we come and visit again? So glad things are going better and you are progressing so much. Keep up your good work and maybe we'll be able to see you soon. Love, Mom K.

I'm sorry that first day was so rough :) it sounds like you have nice new docs and therapists. They have the cutest scrubs now days...so maybe I can find something that works for comfort and movement, as well as style!
